A shortage of bus drivers has delayed Winnipeg Transit’s plans to introduce new routes in four suburban neighbourhoods. The change would require 16.75 new full-time equivalent staff, including bus operators, maintenance workers and supervisors. The service was already short 50 drivers as of this spring.

JP Shearer and partners recently announced plans to build a Ramada by Wyndham hotel in Flin Flon, at the site of the former Flin Flon Hotel. The $20M project will include a conference centre, pool, restaurant, and 80-100 rooms. It is expected to open in 2025.

Celebrations Dinner Theatre in Winnipeg has permanently closed following a strike by its unionized staff. Act Three Entertainment, which owns the business, says the venue is no longer profitable. Thirty-three unionized staff are affected, as well as kitchen workers and performers.

Oakberry, a smoothie and acai bowl chain, is opening its first Winnipeg location. The new shop will open at 201 Portage, a busy downtown office tower, in the next few months.
