The employment outlook will be fair for Property administrators (NOC 1224) in Ontario for the 2019-2021 period.

Over the last decade, strong performance in construction has resulted in an increased demand for property administrators. The vast majority of property administrators are employed in the real estate industry. They are likely found working in real estate brokerage firms, real estate leasing firms and property management firms. As such, the occupation is sensitive to the health of the real estate market. Others in this occupation are spread out in other industries, including public administration.

Increased construction of condominiums and multiple dwelling housing units are driven by the increased demand for rental units. The housing projects that are built will require property administrators. There is also a predicted rise in commercial and industrial investment property construction spurred by lower business borrowing costs. This is further indication that employment in the property administrators industry should increase in Ontario.

Although the completion of secondary school is generally required to work as a property administrator, additional vocational training in property management or real estate may prove advantageous for placement in property administrator positions. Knowledge of and ability in Microsoft Office and computer based accounting packages are also advantageous for placement in property administrator positions. Knowledge of administrative practices and an ability to supervise staff is an important asset. Currently, no licensing is required to operate in this occupation. Voluntary designations include Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Property Manager (CPM) , Facility Management Administrator (FMA) and Real Property Administrator (RPA). The Association of Condo Managers of Ontario (ACMO) is a self-governing body providing accreditation which may be beneficial to job seeker and the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) regulates licensed realtors.
