In this role, you?ll bring scenes to life by creating expressive, stylized 2D effects that complement the 3D animation and enhance the visual storytelling. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for timing, shape, and motion, with experience creating hand-drawn effects that integrate seamlessly into a 3D production. </p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><h3>What You?ll Do: </h3><ul><li>Animate the 2D FX (e.g., water, smoke, dust, lightning, bubbles, fire, storms, shadows, blurs, explosions) to shape the overall look, mood, and style, enhancing the character, environment, or atmosphere. </li></ul><ul><li>Create and animate custom FX based on designs provided. </li></ul><ul><li>Re-purpose library FX for new scenes by changing the scale, colour, duration and intensity of existing FX. </li></ul><ul><li>Adjust effects based on notes from leads, supervisors, and directors. </li></ul><ul><li>Handle sequences of varying complexity, from simple to moderately difficult FX shots. </li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with leadership, production, and team members to solve problems and ensure FX integration. </li></ul><ul><li>Engage in dailies, rounds, and team discussions, contributing to creative and technical improvements. </li></ul><ul><li>Adhere to pipeline workflows and technical requirements for seamless integration into the production process. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain consistency in quality while meeting production needs. </li></ul><ul><li>Manage time effectively, working with production to stay on schedule. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep the team and production staff informed about progress, challenges, and solutions. </li></ul><h3>What You?ll Bring: </h3><ul><li>Previous production experience as a 2D FX Artist or similar role in animation. </li></ul><ul><li>A portfolio that demonstrates: </li></ul><ul><li>Extensive experience using ToonBoom Harmony for FX creation. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong ability to develop a wide range of 2D FX (e.g., water, smoke, fire, destruction, transformation) that enhance character, environment, and atmosphere. </li></ul><ul><li>Solid understanding of FX animation techniques and principles. </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively promote solutions, share knowledge, and incorporate feedback. </li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p><strong>Location: BC or Quebec</strong></p><p><strong>Duration: November 2026 until March 2027</strong></p><p><strong>Pay Range:</strong> CAD $1400 - $1600 per week</p><p>This salary range reflects our current expectations for these roles as of this posting?s date.
