Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work setting: Installation. Shop fabrication. Various locations. Repair. Tasks: Design duct systems. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Operate laser cutters. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Operate plasma cutters. Instruct apprentices. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Estimate costs and materials. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Aerial lift and aerial work platform Certification. Sheet Metal Worker Trade Certification. Sheet Metal Worker Red Seal Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Specialization or experience: Custom sheet metal items. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Security and safety: Bondable. Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment.
