*Job Purpose* *Position Title:* Part Time Child and Youth Worker ? Contract until March 31, 2028. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Women?s Rural Resource Centre?s Direct Care and Shelter Teams, the Part Time Child and Youth Worker (CYW) supports the implementation of trauma-informed programming for children and youth impacted by gender-based violence (GBV). This role focuses on program delivery, advocacy, therapeutic support, and engagement with children, youth, and caregivers. The CYW works collaboratively with the full-time Child and Youth Advocate and broader team to ensure programming is responsive, safe, and aligned with WRRC values. We support children and youth in developing healthy coping strategies and fostering belonging, hope, and safety. Scope and Responsibilities In alignment with the agency?s policies, values, and vision, the Part Time Child and Youth Worker will: · Support the implementation of programming for children and youth impacted by GBV· Provide individual and group support using trauma-informed, play-based, and psychoeducational approaches· Assist with intake processes as needed, including receiving calls and supporting referrals· When appropriate, support risk assessment, safety planning, and referrals for non-residential clients under supervision· Provide education and support sessions for caregivers to strengthen understanding of GBV impacts and promote healthy attachment· Assist in delivering group programming for children, youth and caregivers that is trauma and violence informed· Work collaboratively with the full-time Child and Youth Advocate and WRRC team to ensure continuity of care· Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners (e.g., CAS, schools, police) while supporting advocacy for clients· Support community engagement and outreach activities as required· Maintain clear and accurate documentation in the client database in accordance with agency policies· Follow incident reporting protocols and support documentation of serious occurrences· Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and supportive team environment· Participate in supervision, team meetings, and professional development opportunities· Support children and youth (primarily ages 5?17) and caregivers in shelter and community settings· Other duties as assigned _Preferred Skills and Qualifications: _ *1. Education* a. Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, or related field b. Equivalent education and/or lived and professional experience will be considered c. Knowledge of First Nation cultures and worldview an asset. d. Fluency in additional languages is an asset 2. Experience a. Minimum 1-3 years of related experience working with children and youth b. Experience with trauma-informed or play/art-based interventions is an asset c. Demonstrated experience in advocacy and systems navigation (e.g., child welfare, education, housing, legal systems) d. Experience working in shelter, crisis, or community-based settings is an asset e. Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory, and GBV f. Strong understanding of GBV in rural communities and families. g. Lived experience or cultural knowledge relevant to marginalized communities is considered a strong asset. h. Experience facilitating, supporting or assisting with programming for children, youth and caregivers 3. Personal Characteristics a. Demonstrates a strong trauma-informed approach, and practice. b. Ability to facilitate and support small groups of children and respond to dynamic environments c. Excellent conflict resolution skills: ability to facilitate difficult conversations. d. Demonstrated advocacy skills in child and youth-focused delivery e. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills f. Outstanding communications, listening and assessment skills- Location Strathroy, ON
