Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Commercial dental laboratory. Tasks: Supervise technical staff. Train other dental technicians. Cast gold or metal alloys for bridges and denture bases. Maintain and order supplies. Mould wax over dentures set-up. Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures. Make orthodontic bands from metal and alloys. Polish and buff dentures. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Technical expertise (dental): Waxing-up. Polishing. Area of specialization: Ceramic or porcelain application. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Sitting. Hand-eye co-ordination.
