Responsibilities
Tasks

Diagnose patient illnesses and minor injuries, such as allergies and muscle strains or sprains

Diagnose physiological disorders and injuries of patients

Treat patients by administering, in chemical or herbal form, a small dosage of a remedy made from natural substances or by suggesting lifestyle changes

Advise patients on the use of herbs for the treatment of conditions

Manipulate or apply pressure to various parts of the body, hands and feet

Treat patients by the insertion of acupuncture needles or through stimulation techniques

Prescribe and administer medications and treatments

Maintain accurate records

Explain procedures, risks and benefits to clients

Suggest home care instructions and provide information about techniques

Consult with other health care professionals to evaluate treatment plans
