For more information about our school district, visit https://www.vsb.bc.ca/.<p> <p>THE OPPORTUNITY: PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR - SUBSTANCE USE PREVENTION (TECHNICAL & RESOURCE SUPPORT D) <p>SACY (Supporting and Connecting Youth) Substance Use Prevention Program is a joint initiative of the Vancouver Board of Education and Vancouver Coastal Health. SACY conducts a range of strategic and multi-level activities designed to increase the capacity of schools to prevent, delay, and reduce problematic substance use and strengthen mental well-being through health promotion and elevating youth wellness. The SACY model emphasizes relationships, connectedness, positive youth development, adult (parents and teachers) learning and support, and social and emotional learning.<p>In this position, you will: <p><p> Represent the SACY Parent Engagement stream within the SACY team, the community and on committees as requested.<p> Co-create and deliver district wide, evidence-based, parent education on topics including adolescence substance use, parent communication skills, parenting styles, youth mental health support, family stress, adolescent development, available resources.<p> Guide SACY parent stream in evidence-based prevention and maintain consistency of program delivery district wide.<p> Provide one-to-one support and referrals to parents referred from Counsellors, administrators, and SACY Youth Engagement workers.<p> Collaborate with SWIS/MCLW to offer culturally appropriate, district wide parent education, including SU and MH literacy and universal core parenting approaches.<p> Coordinate and help deliver SACY?s district school-based Capacity Cafes.<p> Offer information sessions on ways to support families to keep students in school for counsellors, teachers and administrators, and support staff.<p> Deliver and co-create district wide sessions on topics such as: Risks of Affluence; Evidence-based SU education for teachers; Understanding SU context in Vancouver.<p> Conduct school-based workshops and PAC presentations.<p> Identify emerging issues and service gaps with respect to parent SU prevention. <p> Maintain relationships and collaboration with key parent-serving community agencies including Odyssey/Nexus/Parents Together and CYMH parent groups (Connect, ADHD parent group, Responsive Parenting group).<p> Deliver the SACY Parent Engagement program consistent with relevant Vancouver Board of Education policies and procedures.<p> Report, monitor, co
