The successful candidate must be able to attend 2 days of training, August 28 & 29, 2024 at South Surrey, BC (expenses covered). <p>Join Our Team <p>School District 72 is looking for a .4 FTE Physical Literacy Coordinator to join our team of professionals who strive to bring the districts learning beliefs to life. This position will report directly to the Director of Instruction.School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district serves over 5,600 students in 18 schools with a diverse range of programs that are progressive and responsive to the educational needs and interests of students.The district respects and values the relationships with all First Nations, Mtis, and Inuit peoples who reside in these territories. It is with respectful consideration that the programs and services provided to students and staff acknowledge their histories, cultural contributions, and contemporary concerns.About the Role Implement the SPA (School Physical Activity)-PL (Physical Literacy) project in all elementary and middle schools in the district.<p> Champion the importance of physical literacy in schools.<p> Build teacher capacity in physical literacy in hallways, gym, outdoors and the classroom.<p> Provide tracking requirements and pre/post survey details.<p> Provide teachers with resources and PLAYBuilder tools.<p> Collaborate with the district teacher coordinator team.<p> Plan and implement district based in-service opportunities which may be outside of the normal school day.<p> Collect and develop website materials in a coordinated approach for teachers to utilize. <p>Bring your Expertise Relevant university qualifications.<p> Preferred qualifications in physical literacy.<p> A valid BC Certificate of Qualification through the Ministry of Education.<p> A passion and relentless pursuit for improving the life chances for all students through strong physical literacy development and supports.<p> Extensive successful teaching in an elementary classroom, particularly regarding physical literacy.<p> A valid drivers license with access to a vehicle every day.<p> Recent successful classroom teaching experience in physical education ideally at the elementary level.<p> Ability to create and deliver a broad-based program for physical literacy/physical education for K-8.<p> A clear understanding of the developmental stages of elementary and middle
