_Position Overview_:
Reporting directly to the Safety Manager, the CSO will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and secure work environment on all Reotech jobsites. The responsible for implementing and helping oversee our health and safety program.
A driving license is required as the role involves travel to multiple sites. Travel expenses are reimbursed.
_Key Responsibilities_:
* Conduct weekly site inspections on all company jobsites to ensure sites are compliant with WorkSafeBC regulations and guidelines.
* Rectify any unsafe conditions or acts and take immediate measures to mitigate risk and hazards when necessary.
* Work collaboratively with site superintendents, service techs, sub-trades, and workers to ensure all required documents such as Risk Assessments, FLHA?s, Orientations, Toolbox Talks, Site Inspections etc. are completed and filed.
* Act as a resource/coach for project staff and sub-contractors by assisting in resolving any issues of non-compliance.
* Stay up to date on changes in regulations and industry standards.
* Ensure all required signage, PPE, safety supplies and first aid kits are present and stocked on all jobsites.
* Help with the development of safe job procedures and safe work practices.
* Lead and assist incident investigations for all incidents and near misses and help develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
* Help promote and drive the company?s safety culture and set a good example for site supervisors, workers, and sub-trades.
* Attend monthly Joint Health & Safety Meetings, provide feedback from field staff.
* Provide in-house training and help coordinate off-site training when required.
* Conduct emergency/first aid drills.
* Administer first aid as required.
* Other duties as assigned.
_Qualifications/Skills_:
* Must have valid Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification
* Valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 Certification
* BC Class 5 Driver?s Licence a must
* Strong knowledge of provincial and federal safety regulations
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Organized and detail oriented.
* Ability to work under pressure and resolve challenging situations in a professional manner.
* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Comfortable working with and/or learning new software programs (i.e. Salus)
