*Job Summary:*
Reporting to the Director of Development and Capital Assets, the Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operational management and/or maintenance of the organization?s properties, in a manner consistent with the industries best practices. The key responsibilities include overseeing contractors and provide preventive maintenance, facilitate major renovation projects, commissioning of new projects, capital planning, team management and leadership.

*Qualifications: *
* Diploma or certificate level training in an engineering/technical field, preferably mechanical and/or electrical systems.
* Three to Five years? recent, related progressive supervisory and management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
* FMP Certification is an asset.
*Skills and Abilities*
* Demonstrated working knowledge of building systems, operations and maintenance practices in a complex, health care and housing environment.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of appropriate legislation, relevant laws and by-laws, and provincial/national standards.
* Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare facilities and housing operations and maintenance best practices.
* Proven initiative, judgment, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
* Demonstrated ability to take action in a crisis management environment.
* Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including the ability to collaborate and to identify solutions to non-routine enquiries.
* Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and team building skills with a track record of building successful teams, promoting teamwork through motivating, coaching, and consensus-building, and applying innovative and effective people skills to maximize team performance.
* Ability to supervise and provide direction to staff, consultant, and other contractors.
* Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and maintain effective working relationships with a service-oriented attitude displaying courtesy, tact and diplomacy under stressful situations.
* Strong organizational and planning skills including the demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities, and multiple priorities and schedules.
* Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
* Ability to operate related equipment including related software applications.
* Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
*Responsibilities:*
* Establish, develop and implement department goals, objectives and operational requirements consistent with New Vista Society?s strategic and operational objectives
* Reviews current operations and develops appropriate systems and processes to ensure effective and efficient facilities operations
* Develops and implements the annual operating and capital budget for the care home and properties; responsible for monitoring expenditures, variance analysis and reporting; takes corrective actions as required.
* Manages the recruitment, mentoring and professional development of assigned staff and contract employees; supervises designated staff, determines staff schedules, provides work direction and assignment of duties to
