The Simcoe County District School Board is accepting applications for the following positions:<p>Summer Contract: Mental Health and Well-Being & Student Engagement <p>6 positions - 9 days (6 hours) each (equivalent of 4 days writing + August 19-23, 2024)<p>This summer, the SCDSB is hosting a four-day student Mental Health and Well-being (MHWB) Ambassador Symposium August 20-23, 2024. The symposium is for Gr. 10 & 11 students who are interested in sharing about, and planning for, the kinds of support students want and need at their school. The four days will be structured around the School Mental Health Ontario (SMH-ON) Identity Affirming Frame with opportunities to participate in outdoor learning, hear inspiration from keynote speakers, build student mental health literacy, and engage in design thinking to plan for student-led initiatives throughout the 2024-25 school year.<p>Successful applicants will work collaboratively with the mental health and well-being department to plan and facilitate this summer symposium. Successful applicants will be compensated at the Con-Ed Remedial rate (currently $46.50/hr).<p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ?An Ontario Teachers Certificate of Qualification<p> ?A University Degree<p> ?Completion of the Mental Health Literacy for Educators Course<p> ?Experience in creating identity-affirming, culturally relevant, and evidence-informed instruction and assessment resources<p> ?Five years teaching experience (preferred)KEY COMPETENCIES OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT <p>Successful applicants will have: ?experience implementing MHLIT: Student Mental Health in Action lessons from SMH-ON<p> ?knowledge of mental health literacy strategies to support student mental health<p> ?low ropes level 1 certification is an asset<p> ?a repertoire of effective evidence-informed instructional strategies to engage students in learning;<p> ?experience working in collaboration with colleagues;<p> ?experience using a variety of digital tools; <p> ?an ability to align professional learning with system priorities;<p> ?excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills;<p> ?an understanding of: Growing Success Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting in Ontario Schools (1-12);<p> Ontario Schools Policy and Program Requirements (K-12);<p> School Effectiveness Framework A support for school improvement and student success (K-12);<p> Learning for All A Guide to Effective Assessment and Instruction for All Students (K-12);<p> Creating Pathways to Success, An Education and Career/Life Planning Program for Ontario Schools: Policy and Program Requirements (K-12); and<p> Ontario First Nation, Metis and Inuit Education Policy Framework 2007.
