St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting a Full Time, Probationary, Interpreter for the Visually Impaired for a work assignment with Student Services. <p>More than 9000 students are enrolled in St. Albert Public Schools. From Preschool to Grade 12, our students learn and succeed in programs that are recognized for excellence and their focus on citizenship and sound values. Hours of Work: 30.0 hrs. /week; 6.0 hrs. /day; Monday-Friday; Full Time ProbationaryHourly Rate: $26.98 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement<p>Start Date: August 26, 2024Specific Needs/Requirements for this position: <p> UEB interpreter training through CNIB is required<p> Minimal level of uncontracted Braille; contracted Braille preferred with basic technical skills<p> Familiarity with Braille 2000 program<p> Foundational knowledge may be supported through professional training<p> Experience providing interpreter and educational support to an academic student is beneficial<p> Experience working as an interpreter using braille in an elementary and/or early childhood school setting <p> Experience providing support in a variety of settings for students with visual impairments in social contexts with their peers<p> Experience in supporting the classroom teacher with programming modifications or adaptations as needed<p> Experience delivering interventions and strategies as laid out by the classroom teacher and other transdisciplinary team members<p> Experience working with teachers of visually impaired and specialists in providing supports for students in a regular classroom setting<p> Use a total communication approach with students including oral communication, braille, and assisted technology<p> Knowledgeable in using strategies that enhance communication in a classroom setting, field trips and unstructured parts of the school day<p> Experience in working with assistive technologies in the classroom <p> Qualifications & Experience: <p> Highest level of formal education.<p> Courses, seminars, and specialized training related to required skills.<p> Experience related to the position.<p> Other skills and abilities applicable to the position.In accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement, this position offers a comprehensive benefits package found under Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan. <p>All completed applications received by the deadline will be considered. <p>However, only short listed candidates will be contacted. <p>All new employees to St. Albert Public Schools are required to submit a recent (within 6 months), <p>clear Vulnerable/Criminal Record Check prior to commencement of employment.
