We employ approximately 50 staff including administration, teachers and support staff. The South Peace Campus is the largest school in School District No. 59 and accounts for approximately 20 percent of the FTE in the entire district. In addition to the bricks and mortar school, we also run an alternate program for at-risk youth and an online school, South Peace Distributed Learning, that supports students from the communities across our district. We have a thriving athletics program at our school that has seen a number of teams win zone championships in the past few years and go on to compete for Provincial Championships. We have an excellent relationship with our local college and see a number of our students enter Dual Credit programs each year. In addition to the regular academic courses, we offer a variety of elective courses that include woodwork, metalwork, automotive, robotics, engineering, foods, visual arts, digital arts, theatre and dance. We also have a well-established music theatre program that puts on a musical production each spring.The South Peace Campus is a Restorative Practices school where we use focused conversations to solve problems and build empathy. We believe that a positive school culture and a connected school community are key in ensuring our students have a healthy learning environment. We aim to provide opportunities for growth and development by supporting our learners to become resilient, empathetic citizens with the skills needed to excel in the 21st century. <p>Desired qualifications and experience include: Hold, or be qualified for, a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate.<p> Experience with adapting, and modifying, curriculum to meet the needs of students. <p> Experience teaching primary and intermediate/middle school/secondary students. <p> Strong literacy and numeracy skills. Willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals. <p> Capacity to work independently and in collaboration with a team. <p> Ability to use performance standards in the area of social responsibility. <p> Acquainted with the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the new curriculum. <p> Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques. <p> Experience teaching in a multiage group setting. <p> Strong classroom management skills. <p> Training in teaching ELL students. <p> Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social and emotional learning difficulties. <p> Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement plan. <p> Working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance Based Assessment, and Balanced Literacy. <p> Experience working with students who display a variety of behaviours.
