You are a collaborator with other relevant sectors, with other NVRC staff and you understand the role of public community recreation centres within the community and in the fitness service field. You have the ability to get things done with, and through other staff, you strive for continuous improvement and you are passionate about supporting residents to live healthy and active lives.QUALIFICATIONSAbility to plan, assign, supervise and review the work of subordinates. Ability to develop, coordinate, implement and promote fitness, health and wellness programs and activities which meet the needs and interests of the community. Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices involved in developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating and promoting community fitness, health and wellness programs and services. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies, procedures and statutes governing the work. Considerable knowledge of the fitness, health and wellness needs and interests of the community. Considerable knowledge of the use and operation of the various types of fitness equipment and operational requirements of community recreation fitness, health and wellness. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to monitor budget expenditures and revenues. Ability to respond to and resolve inquiries and complaints pertaining to fitness, health and wellness. Ability to inspire instructors, participants and other staff to live a healthy lifestyle.DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCECandidates will have a University Degree in Kinesiology or a related discipline plus considerable related experience in Fitness, Health and Wellness service delivery or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Supervisory experience and experience in a municipal setting is preferred.REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATIONSSupervisor of Fitness Leaders Certificate; Registered Fitness Appraiser; BCRPA Fitness Leadership Registration or equivalent; Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR-C Certification and a valid Class 5 BC driver?s license.This is a regular full-time position, involving shift work including days, evenings and weekends for 35 hours per week.All employees should be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
