WFN is dedicated to promoting a healthy and prosperous future to ensure its continued existence as a strong political, social and cultural community.Westbank First Nation values Equality, Honesty and Fairness, Respect, Integrity, Accountability and Transparency, Sustainability, Understanding, Confidentiality and Efficiency.About this OpportunityThe Risk and Emergency Response Manager, reporting to the Council Secretariat, holds a crucial role in providing comprehensive risk assessment, management, mitigation, response and recovery strategies for the local government. This position is responsible for the risk management team and collaborates with regional partners to ensure effective emergency response planning, coordination, and execution. The incumbent will coordinate WFNs staffing response to emergencies, actively participate in emergency response activities, including representing the local government at the Emergency Operations Centre, planning sessions, and recovery efforts.Want to know more? You will?Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities within the local government. Develop and implement risk management strategies and protocols to mitigate identified risks. Coordinate with the Occupational Health and Safety Officer and relevant departments to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and standards Lead emergency response activities, including representing the local government at the Emergency Operations Centre during crises. Liaise with Provincial and Federal agencies related to First Nations emergency management Organize and facilitate emergency preparedness training sessions for government staff and stakeholders.Must Haves:Bachelor?s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in emergency management, risk assessment, and mitigation, preferably in an Indigenous government setting. Experience in leading and coordinating emergency response activities, including training and development programs. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft 365 and emergency management software.
