Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Odours. Dusty. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Employ knee kickers and other equipment to stretch carpeting. Perform direct glue-down carpet installations. Perform double-bond carpet installations. Install resilient stair components (special effects for the visually impaired). Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Vinyl or resilient sheets. Flash covings. Modular carpet tiles. Carpets/rugs. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Vehicle supplied by employer. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination.
