Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,167.00 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education.ResponsibilitiesAs part of the School of Engineering and reporting to the Academic Chair, the Instructor, Construction Management is responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.Specific instructional areas may include, but are not limited to:Construction Site Management - contract administration, tenderingConstruction Project Management - planning for new construction and renovationBuilding Construction - drawing and specification interpretation, materials, equipment, sequencing, safety managementConstruction Estimating - 2D quantity surveying, tender preparationQualificationsEducation and Experience:Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering Technology or a related field with relevant years of work experience.Candidates must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), or a Professional Technologist (P. Tech).Demonstrated knowledge of local construction procedures, quality assurance and quality control.Demonstrated experience with building commissioning.Technical Skills:Demonstrated proficiency in Procore, or other construction management software.Ability to work with Microsoft MS Project Professional.Construction estimation skills working with Bluebeam Revu and Excel.Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware and software.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Professional Skills:Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.Self-motivated, service and results oriented.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.A desire for continuous learning and growth.Excellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishAssets:Exposure to various CAD drafting tools including AutoCAD and RevitExposure to 3D Terrestrial Scanning, virtual reality hardware and softwareExperience with Revizto and NavisworksDesignation for Gold Seal Certification (GSC) for either project manager, owner's construction manager and estimator/superintendentDesignation for Project Management Professional (PMP)Preference may be given to candidates who have five (5) years of recent and related work experience.Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent.
