Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Sewers and water mains. Tasks: Operate heavy equipment. Complete onboard and other logs. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Prepare accident reports. Perform minor repairs to equipment. Observe excavation work to ensure that underground facilities are protected. Dig ditches and trenches. Assist in constructing underground installations. Supervision: Pipefitters. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Ground Disturbance - Level II program. Type of inspection: Sewer systems and pipelines. Types of systems: Underground conduits and piping. Type of heavy equipment operated: Backhoe excavator, loader. Compactor. Dump truck. Gravel or dump truck. Equipment and machinery experience: Skidsteer. Water mains. Area of work experience: Backfilling. Ditching. Excavation. Rough grading. Trenching. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding.
