KFN Enterprises is looking for an experienced and dedicated Director of Finance to join the team!
*Job Summary *
The Director of Finance is responsible for the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This includes management of a small team, financial and management accounting reporting, tax compliance, maintenance of internal controls, and the analysis and support for KFN Enterprises Group of Companies economic development activities. Reporting to the CEO, this position plays an integral role as the Finance department?s lead and will be working closely with the various business leaders to drive financial performance and strategic decision making.
*Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:*
? Manage the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
? Partners with CEO, the Board of Directors, and business leaders, supporting them in the understanding and measurement of business drivers and in financial planning and analysis (budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning).
? Work with brokers to assess and ensure overall insurance coverage is adequate to address risks for all operations and projects
? Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, and financial procedures; ensure compliance with all financial regulations and laws
? Collaborate with the executive team to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities
? Collaborate with KFN CFO to ensure accurate & timely flow of financial information between the Nation?s Government Administration and Economic Development operations
? Hire, develop and manage team
? Provide Executive leadership to Management Team to ensure operational needs being met and objectives and structure is in line with strategic growth of the business
? Leads and supports Change Management initiatives as required
? Special projects
? Provide positive leadership and supervisory experience to an enthusiastic accounting team needing guidance to improve its internal processes and results.
? Collaborate with the CEO and departmental managers to compile and review the reasonability of departmental budgets for KFNE?s operations and assist in the determination of surplus funds that flow through to the Kwikwetlem First Nation.
? Prepares budgetary variance analyses and narratives monthly for KFNE executive and the Finance Committee to the Board of KFNE.
? Review and approve on a timely basis monthly, quarterly and annual reports of actual income and expenditures, consistent with ASPE.
*Experience/Qualifications*
? CPA accounting designation and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
? 5 years of directly related management experience with proven, effective people leadership/mentorship and staff development
? Experience working in a First Nation accounting environment preferred
? Sound working knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards
? Current knowledge and competency in respect of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise
? Sees the interdependent connection between businesses and departments to make informed and intentional decisions through strong critical thinking skills.
? Self-managed, goal oriented and follows tasks through to completion
? Develop approaches to strengthening self-governance capacity
? Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity with a commitment to team-driven success and leading by example
? Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with enterprise partners
? Effective written and oral communication skills to present financials to partners, Board members and shareholders
? Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel and spreadsheet analysis skills; experience with QuickBooks and Sage software programs
