District of LantzvilleDeputy Director of Financial ServicesFull-Time Exempt Position - Competition No. 2024-03Closing Date: 4:00 pm, Wednesday, June 5, 2024 The ?Lovable, Livable? District of Lantzville, located between Nanaimo and Parksville on Vancouver Island, is home to approximately 4,000 residents. This management position provides an opportunity for growth and a broad range of experience as part of a small team focused on providing excellent municipal services and implementing Council?s vision and plans for the community. The Deputy Director of Financial Services (?DDFS?), reporting to the Director of Financial Services (Financial Officer), will assist with the statutory responsibilities of the Financial Officer, as required, and provide a diverse range of complex services including financial planning, financial reporting, asset management, property taxation, investing, payroll, purchasing, risk management, grant administration, and information technology. The Deputy plays a key role in the preparation of all legislated financial planning and reporting documents (Audited Financial Statements, Five-Year Financial Plan, Statements of Financial Information); management and review of financial bylaws, policies, agreements and contracts; administration of the District?s internal controls, financial accounting software programs; and involvement in all aspects of office management including information technology. QualificationsChartered Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) [or actively pursuing] is preferred along with a degree in Business Administration or related post-secondary degree. Three to five years of direct, relevant accounting expertise in an environment of similar scope and complexity, preferably in the public sector, including complex accounting practices in a computerized environment. Any equivalent combination of skills, training and experience will be considered.Additional InformationThis is an exempt position with an annual salary of $85,000 - $95,000 and a comprehensive benefits package based on a 35-hour work week.
