General InformationThe Building Inspection & Bylaw Enforcement Division of the Land Use Services Department is looking to fill a temporary full time Bylaw Enforcement Officer position. This temporary assignment is for up to one year but there is the possibility of a one-year extension. Reporting to the Manager, Building Inspection & Bylaw Enforcement, the Bylaw Enforcement Officer is responsible for responding to enquiries and investigating complaints and in relation to regional district bylaws. The Bylaw Officer educates members of the public about regulatory requirements, coordinates with external law enforcement agencies, government agencies and legal counsel, promotes voluntary compliance with and where required, undertakes enforcement action to obtain compliance with regional district bylaws. Qualifications Secondary school graduation Justice Institute Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement, & Investigative Skills 1 Justice Institute Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement, & Investigative Skills 2 Minimum of two (2) years? experience in enforcement of bylaws, field investigation and court procedures or other related enforcement fields First Aid Level 1 with CPR C - provided by the employer Valid Class 5 BC Driver?s License The successful applicant must be knowledgeable and conversant on relevant land use legislation and bylaws applicable within a Regional District, as well have knowledge of court documentation and legal notice requirementsAn equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.A full job description listing all the job requirements can be viewed online at careers-cvrd.icims.com.Hours of Work: The hours of work are 35 hours per week and will include weekend shifts as per operational requirements, and may include some evening meetings. Flextime is offered with the position. Salary: This unionized position (CUPE Local 358) has a wage range of three steps, $43.37 - $44.70 - $45.99 per hour (2024 rates).
