The Canadian Animal Blood Bank (CABB), a national not-for-profit corporation, is advertising for a Laboratory Manager. The CABB is Canada?s largest animal blood bank with headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Laboratory Manager will be joining a team dedicated to supplying veterinarians with high-quality blood products and educating veterinary professionals in their use - all in the betterment of animal health. The Laboratory Manager will be supported by a committee of leading veterinary hematologists.
This position will be an exciting opportunity for those who enjoy the celebration of the human animal bond. Blood banking is an uplifting experience for all involved as the donor dogs are young and healthy and their owners are dedicated to helping others through the work of the CABB.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement quality assurance processes for industry standards compliance.
* Conduct audits and provide reports to evaluate current quality system efficiency.
* Collaborate to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans.
* Monitor metrics, analyze trends, resolve complaints and recommend corrective actions.
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement by promoting quality awareness, conducting training sessions, and encouraging employee involvement in quality initiatives.
* Maintain equipment inventory and ensure proper maintenance.
* Procurement and supply chain logistics.
* Promote transfusion medicine knowledge to the veterinary community through seminars or the development of technical documents.
* Delivery of educational components to the Red River College Polytechnic Animal Health Technology Program.
Educational Requirements
The applicant must have experience in blood banking and immunohematology. The successful applicant will have one or more of the following:
* Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT, CSMLS Accredited)
* Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT, VTS(ECC)) with experience in transfusion medicine
* Experience in the pharmaceutical/biomedical industry

Applicants must be detail-oriented, organized, and possess outstanding communication skills in addition to strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to interpret data and determine what actions are necessary. This would include skill and experience in office software applications. Bilingual in English and French while not required would be an asset. Some inter-provincial travel may be required to manage regional units of operation.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
