Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. Electrical and electronics engineering. Work site environment: At heights. Cold/refrigerated. Confined spaces. Outdoors. Wet/damp. Work setting: Various locations. Testing. Service. Repair. Marina. Marine. Maintenance. Installation. Industrial construction. Troubleshooting. Tasks: Assemble fibre-optic and coaxial cables. Install and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices . Install electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. Maintain industrial instrumentation and related devices . Replace or repair electrical components. Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. Instruct apprentices. Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors. Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems. Maintain inventory of stored material. Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices. Interpret electrical code specifications. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. Read blueprints and electrical schematics. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Set up, calibrate, operate and interpret magnetic particle, eddy current, liquid penetrant, acoustic emission, and infrared thermographic equipment. Installs valves, alarms and associated equipment. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Industrial electricians. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Industrial Electrician Trade Certification. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Type of service and repair: Programmable logic controller (PLC). Type of maintenance: Marine engines. Equipment, eystems and controls experience: Lighting system. Area of specialization: Electrical engineering. Fire alarm system. Marine construction. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Vehicle supplied by employer.
