NARSF Programs is seeking a Counsellor to work with parents/caregivers in the Living In Families with Teens (LIFT) Program. NARSF Programs welcomes all qualified individuals to apply.
*The Role*
Provides counselling primarily for parents and caregivers of youth 12-18 years. Counsellors support and assist parents/caregivers with the goal of promoting caregiving capacity and maintaining the integrity of the family system. Establishes supportive and trusting relationships that reduce risk, promote positive choices for a healthier lifestyle, and strengthen connection and attachment in the family system. General responsibilities will require the individual to possess strong interpersonal skills, a well-rounded knowledge base of parent-teen issues, proven skills at reconciling family conflicts and a mature, independent, resourceful approach to work. Flexible hours are required for this position.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Assess, plan, and deliver interventions for parents/caregivers as related to presenting needs and circumstances.
* Maintain regular contact and availability to each family.
* Prioritize needs and plan interventions including; advocacy, youth\\family support and crisis intervention, referral to other sources, discharge and follow-up
* Provide effective verbal and written reports as required and maintain accurate records and statistics as required.
* Liaise with and advocate for the youth and family?s best interest with other involved professionals and programs.
*Required*
* B.A., B.S.W. or Child and Youth Degree or a combination of experience and education.
* Knowledge of adolescent development, relevant risk factors for youth, family systems, life skills and social determinants of health.
* Familiarity with community resources, and ability to work in an integrated capacity with youth and families and complementary resources.
* Knowledge of the Child, Family and Community Services Act, BC Benefits Act, Young Offenders Act, and other acts as they apply to youth service.
* A criminal record check that passes the Criminal Records Review Act is mandatory

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
