NLHealthServices.ca Job Summary The Clinical Psychologist III with the Adult Rehabilitation, Geriatrics and Palliative Care Program is an integral member of the outpatient specialized Geriatrics interdisciplinary team serving frail older adults and their caregivers. The Psychologist is responsible for providing empirically supported treatments, psychodiagnostic assessment, and DSM-5-TR diagnosis, to the clients of the Geriatric Medicine Division. In addition, the Psychologist will serve as a consultative resource to other team members and programs, and will provide education and related programming to families of clients. The Clinical Psychologist III functions autonomously which may involve direct supervision of provisionally registered psychologists, psychology doctoral residents and students as well as Psychometrists within the program. Coverage within the Geriatric Division of the program may be required.This position reports to the Division Manager for Geriatrics which includes inpatient rehab of older adults, the Geriatric Medicine Program/Clinic and the Home Dementia Program, and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Psychology for integrity and professional practice issues. Unit/case assignment to be determined and is subject to change based on operational requirements. Job Demands By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):Occasionally, there is lifting or physical strength required, less than 10 lbs for files, boxes, or equipment.Regularly sits; occasionally works in awkward/cramped positions, and stands to facilitate or teach groups.Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.A higher than normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.
