Education: College/CEGEP. Dental laboratory technology/technician. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Denturist's practice. Tasks: Modify dental devices including full or partial dentures, orthodontic appliances, inlays, onlays, clasps and bands. Prepare plaster models and moulds. Maintain and order supplies. Mould wax over dentures set-up. Prepare wax bite-blocks and impression trays. Pack plastic material in moulds to form full or partial dentures. Polish and buff dentures. Technical expertise (dental): Plastering. Packing. Waxing-up. Casting. Polishing. Assembly. Area of specialization: Full dentures. Partial dentures. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours. Sitting. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills.
