<p>School Social Worker/SEL Specialist Position Description: <p>School District 60 is looking for a compassionate,<p>dedicated individual to assist in addressing the emotional and social<p>well-being of our students. We are dedicated to providing services that assist<p>students to develop attitudes, skills and knowledge required to successfully<p>participate in educational experiences. We provide indirect and direct services<p>to the student and/or school community. Our collective knowledge, skills,<p>energy, creativity and empathy support and nurture this process.<p>This position is from September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 and does not work over the summer months. This position has a salary range of: $66932.00 - $83666.00<p>This is an exempt position and as such is not eligible for overtime and it is not part of a Union.<p>Work Year: 10 month (September 1 to June 30)<p>Hours: 40 hours/week, minimum 8 hours per day<p>Benefits: Flexible Benefit Plan<p>Key Duties: Provide information, when appropriate, to outside support services to help students with economic, emotional, or physical issues.<p> Provide individual group and family counselling and intervention services during a time of crisis with the focus of connecting students and family to community resources/services as appropriate<p> Assist at-risk students or students with disabilities.<p> Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators to understand students' challenges.<p> Maintain case files and reports to track students' progress and problems.<p> Help<p> students and families suffering from abuse, violence, hunger, or<p> homelessness to access resources like shelters, food banks, and medical<p> care.<p> Consult with school administrators, teachers, support staff, school based team, parents<p> Plan and facilitate in-service training sessions for classroom teachers, youth care workers, educational assistants, and parents<p> Participate as an active member of the School-Based Team (SBT) and District support teams<p> Other job related duties as assigned. <p>Qualifications and Attributes: A bachelors or masters degree in social work, youth care, psychology or related field required <p> Valid license to practice Social Work in BC preferred<p> Experience within a setting where services related to a persons social, emotional and life adjustment were required<p> Excellent<p> interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills are required to<p> work at all three tiers of a responsive system, supporting teachers,<p> school teams and parents in developing and strengthening the social and<p> emotional skills of our children & youth <p> Experience in providing liaison between school, home and community agencies, and facilitating referrals for service<p> Must be available to school based-staff at school locations<p> Must be flexible and team orientated<p> The candidate must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to rural and in-town schools<p> Preference will be given to the candidate who has the above skill set plus:<p> Ability to participate in meetings outside of the regular school day to support learning Participating as an active member of the School-Based Team (SBT) and District support teams<p> Qualifications and experience in counselling children/youth<p> Knowledge<p> and skills to develop and support district protocols such as: Safety<p> plan, Crisis Prevention & Intervention Plans, Emergency Plans, Risk<p> Assessment and Threat Assessments<p> Experience<p> and knowledge of processes such as Wraparound, Restorative Justice,<p>
