<h3>Job Description</h3><div>Job Description<div><p>We are seeking a skilled <strong>General Machinist</strong> for our client in North York, ON. The General Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and components. The ideal candidate should have experience working with manual and CNC machining equipment and be proficient in reading technical drawings and blueprints. The ideal candidate will also have experience of operating forklifts.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ol><li>Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate metal parts and components.</li><li>Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining operations, dimensions, and tolerances.</li><li>Select appropriate cutting tools, materials, and machining parameters based on job requirements.</li><li>Align and secure workpieces in machine tools using clamps, fixtures, and vices.</li><li>Monitor machine operations to ensure that parts are produced according to quality standards and specifications.</li><li>Measure and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.</li><li>Make adjustments to machine settings and tooling as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.</li><li>Perform routine maintenance tasks on machine tools, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.</li><li>Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and make repairs as necessary to minimize downtime.</li><li>Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.</li><li>Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.</li><li>Keep accurate records of production activities, including job setups, tooling changes, and quality inspections.</li></ol><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in machining or related field preferred.</li><li>Proven experience as a machinist, with proficiency in setting up and operating manual and CNC machine tools.</li><li>Strong knowledge of machining principles, techniques, and best practices.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.</li><li>Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.</li><li>Familiarity with machine tool maintenance and repair procedures.</li><li>Forklift Operation and License</li><li>Experience of working in the Shipping/Receiving department.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.</li></ul></div></div>
