Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Noisy. Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Outdoors. Work setting: On-site customer service. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Tasks: Install and overhaul heating systems. Install refrigeration systems. Interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation. Measure and lay out reference points for installation. Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements. Troubleshoot heating systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Control systems: Electrical devices. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained). Heat pump. Air motioning and circulation. Ventilation. Cooling tower. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods.
