Well-established Law Firm in downtown Mississauga is seeking a Creditors' Rights Lawyer or Paralegal to work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirement: Must have experience in the field of Creditors' Rights/Collections. Experience could be in the Collections field as a lawyer, paralegal, articling student, or previous debt collector.
Job Description
* Reviewing files for legal action and next steps;
* Reviewing and responding to correspondence;
* Preparing litigation documents including claims, settlement conference briefs, trial briefs, terms of settlement and motion;
* Managing escalated matters and complaints;
* Assisting staff with complex issues;
* Outbound/Inbound communications and negotiations;
* Some court attendance may be required ;
* Post-judgment collections/enforcement i.e. judgment debtor examinations, garnishment hearings, etc;
* Legal research
Skills:
* Excellent communicator with well developed negotiation skills
* Critical thinker
* Quick learner
* Skilled with technology
* Motivated by results
* Able to thrive in fast-paced environment with competing priorities
* Experience with major financial institutions is beneficial
