Temporary Positions are not eligible for benefits of leave entitlements. <p>Function and Purpose of Position<p>Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Service Worker I is responsible for performing tasks including installing, troubleshooting, repairing and general building, property and equipment maintenance. Medium to heavy physical demands with lifting is an essential part of the position as various skilled duties are performed. Working with tradespersons is required and essential to our team environment approach<p>Service Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment including playground equipment, building exterior, interior and landscape/parking lot<p> Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of building systems<p> Ability to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts on a variety of building systems and adjust if necessary (e.g. ventilation)<p> Complete basic repairs and maintenance on building components and equipment<p> Complete emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment, structures and grounds on the property <p> Manage an inventory of equipment, tools and machinery as assigned<p> Ability to complete assigned work orders in a timely and efficient manner<p> Ability to plan and prioritize work for self and seek help when needed <p> Move large quantities of furniture and equipment as assigned<p> Install appliances and equipment<p> Seasonal duties as assigned such as garden/yard maintenance, snow removal, etc.<p> Ability to go on call as per IUOE collective agreement<p> Check functionality of safety systems and be able to complete basic functions on said systems (e.g. fire alarm, security, etc.)<p> Collaborate and take the lead (when required) with co-workers and other professionals during renovations.Occupational Health and Safety & Safe Work Practices Knowledgeable in PSDs safety procedures and training to carry out the assigned duties safely<p> Report any near misses or accidents immediately to the Maintenance Supervisor<p> Able to identify any hazards involved in the assigned task, detail the controls that must be put in place and articulates the specific practices to be followed to minimize the possibility of accidents and injury<p> Perform regular inspection of playground equipment, building exterior, interior and landscape/parking lot<p> Monitoring the physical condition of equipment, tools and machinery and taking necessary precautions to correct as needed<p> Comply with Occupation Health and Safety standards and practices<p> Confined/Restrictive Spaces<p> Working Alone<p> WHMIS CertificationCommunication and Relationships Interactions with management, colleagues, students and the public in a school setting<p> Responds to client concerns in a fast and efficient manner.<p> Establishes and maintains professional working relationshipPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) Task specific PPE is required<p> Clothing must be appropriate for assigned task i.e. no torn or ragged clothing<p> Other additional PPE- LocationStony Plain, AB
