Manager, Technology Systems Architecture <p>The Manager, Technology Systems Architecture works closely with, and reports to, the Director of Information Technology and is responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to a team of Programmers and System Administrators while maintaining district systems and services. <p>Key responsibilities include consultation with school personnel, administrators, and district leadership teams to continue the development of a secure, adaptable, and purpose-driven technology platform for learning. <p>Key Responsibilities <p>Strategic Vision and Leadership : Define and promote the long-term vision for the K-12 technology infrastructure, ensuring alignment with educational goals and district priorities. <p> Collaborate with key stakeholders across the district (district administrators, educators, IT staff) to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions. <p> Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in education technology, recommending and implementing innovative solutions. Architecture Design and Implementation: Design and manage a secure, scalable, and reliable technology architecture for the district, encompassing cloud, network, security, and data infrastructure. <p> Analyze system needs, evaluate and select appropriate technologies and solutions, considering cost, performance, and future growth. <p> Lead the implementation of new architectural components, collaborating with internal teams and vendors to ensure successful deployment. Team Management and Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of programmers and server administrators, providing guidance, coaching, and technical support. <p> Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting learning and skill development among team members. <p> Work effectively with other IT teams (operations, data services) to ensure seamless integration and support of the overall architecture. Technical Expertise and Contribution: Maintain strong technical skills in relevant areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, network technologies, and data management. <p> Continuously learn and adapt to keep pace with evolving technologies and security threats. <p> Actively contribute to the technical team, participating in projects, troubleshooting issues, and providing hands-on expertise. Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Monitor the performance and health of the technology infrastructure, identifying and proactively addressing potential issues. <p> Regularly assess the architecture against evolving needs and best practices, proposing and implementing improvements for efficiency, security, and scalability. <p> Develop and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation to ensure clear understanding for all stakeholders. Budget and Resource Management: Effectively manage the technology architecture budget, allocating resources efficiently and strategically. <p> Identify and secure funding for necessary technology upgrades and projects. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master's preferred). <p> Minimum of 5 years of experience in K-12 education technology or a similar environment. <p> Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex technology architectures. <p> Strong understanding of cloud computing, network security, data management, and K-12 technology needs. <p> Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. <p> Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to motivate and mentor a team. <p> Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Or, equivalent combination of training and experience.<p>Skills and Abilities <p>Specific to this position, the Manager, Technology Syste- LocationSaanichton, BC
