Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Perform diagnostic tests
  • Operate and monitor respiratory equipment to administer treatments
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, calibrate and test equipment
  • Advise patients on health care
  • Examine patients and take their medical histories and consult with physicians and other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health
  • Conduct patient interviews, physical assessments and take medical histories
  • Provide health maintenance education
  • Provide information and care for patients during tests

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses 

  • Certificate of Registry from the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists - R.R.T.
  • Registered polysomnographic technologist (RPGST)
  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT)
