Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Wet/damp. Noisy. Dusty. Hot. Clean. Work setting: Rural area. Poultry processing plant. Tasks: Collect samples from plants or products. Enforce government acts and regulations . Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Explain required standards to agricultural workers . Inspect agricultural products. Inspect carcasses to ensure they are fit for human consumption. Inspect processing methods. Inspect products to detect harmful diseases, chemical residues, or infestations. Interpret and explain government acts and regulations . Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Monitor the operations and sanitary conditions of slaughtering and meat processing plants . Oversee the quarantine, treatment or destruction of plants and plant products. Prepare reports. Route agricultural samples to laboratories for microbiological assessment, ingredient verification, or other testing. Inspect products and processing methods; prepare reports and ensure that regulations governing health, quality and safety are followed. Monitor the operations and sanitary conditions of slaughtering and meat processing plants and inspect carcasses to ensure they are fit for human consumption. Collect samples from animals, plants, or products and route them to laboratories for microbiological assessment, ingredient verification, or other testing. Interpret and enforce government acts and regulations and explain required standards to agricultural workers. Inspect the cleanliness and practices of establishment employees. Investigate consumer and trade complaints. Train staff. Prepare samples. Apply quality control procedure. Maintain internal record-keeping system. Maintain inventory of supplies. Internal audit. Establish work schedules. Check products for quality and other specifications. Food safety/handling skills. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
