Seabird Island Band Director of Community Infrastructure POSITION SUMMARY:Accountable to the Executive Director / Chief Administrative Officer, and as a member of the Director?s Team, the Director of Community Infrastructure will provide overall strategic management, operational leadership, expertise, accountability, and evaluation to all Community Infrastructure-related programs and partnerships for the delivery of superior-quality programming resulting in quality services delivered in a professional manner to clients and community. The Director is responsible for the design and implementation of yearly and long-term capital project plans, maintenance plans, and development plans that sensibly utilize and allocate resources. The Community Infrastructure Department is a multi-faceted service provider offering in-community infrastructure services. Services include Capital Projects, Public Works operations (sanitation, waste, water, wastewater), Building Maintenance (roads, sidewalks, facilities, custodial, seasonal operations, fleet, grounds, and parks), Housing, Emergency Preparedness, Volunteer Fire Department, Occupational Health and Safety, and other teams assigned by the Executive Director / Chief Administrative Officer. In collaboration with department and program managers, the Director will develop and successfully implement efficient and effective programs and services based on the needs of the community and as identified in the strategic plan and ensuring their compliance with laws and legislation. Directors are also responsible for creating an engaging and effective workplace culture and fostering a healthy and safe workplace. This includes managing and coaching employees, fostering a climate of continuous improvement, mitigating risk, and maintaining the integrity of programs, based on funding agreements. Further, as part of the Directors Team the Director is expected to:Ensure direct and cooperative communications with the Executive Director / Chief Administrative Officer, Director?s Team and Public Works Team. Always promote the interests of the Seabird Island, respecting Band Members' rights. Ensure services are provided promptly, professionally, confidentially, respectfully and in a culturally aware manner. Provide services equitably according to policies, procedures, legislation, and laws. Promote a positive work environment and assume responsibility for an effective, efficient, and productive department that meets deliverables and milestones set in strategic plans. Participate fully as an active member of the Director's Team in respect to departmental and inter?departmental matters, collaborating across the Directors Team to support clients and Band Members. In collaboration with the Executive Director / Chief Administrative Officer and Directors Team, participate in the conception to presentation, from approval to implementation, of a department and community strategic plans.CORE COMPETENCIESEthical: Maintains and promotes individual and organizational integrity and values in conduct of all activities. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONMaster?s degree in engineering, public administration, or a related field; or a bachelor?s degree in engineering, public administration or related field and equivalent administrative management experience. Certification or experience in wastewater, SCADA, Blueprints, WHMIS, HVAC, and water management required.SKILLS/EXPERIENCEExperience10+ years? management experience in administering public work
