*ROLE: Director, Financial Services*
The Director, Financial Services, will act as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for external clients where engaged to provide such services. They will provide both operational support and lead the financial reporting function at these organizations. The Director, Financial Services will supervise the finance unit and will act as the chief financial spokesperson for the organization. The Director, Financial Services will report directly to the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and directly assists on all strategic and tactical matters.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Train the Finance Unit comprised of bookkeepers, controllers and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
* Participate in developing new business, specifically: assist the CEO in identifying new client opportunities, assist in preparation of proposals, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.
* Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits.
* Assist with overseeing compliance of client?s financial activities that includes: 1) interpreting IFRS, US GAAP and other relevant financial reporting rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, local and contractual guidelines, 2) ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel, and 3) monitoring compliance.
* Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard clients? financial assets and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with required regulations.
* Attend Board and Subcommittee meetings; including being presenting the financial information to the Audit/Finance Committee of the Board.
* Oversee the production of monthly reports financial statements and other relevant financial information depending on the clients' needs for use by Executive management and the Audit/Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
* Stay up to date with latest financial accounting and reporting technologies and assist with implementation as required,
* Other ad-hoc responsibilities relating to the clients? financial reporting process and internal matters.
*Qualifications*
The Director, Finance Services will have at least seven to twelve years of professional experience, including experience with public company audits, with preference given to candidates with experience at a Canadian audit firm. They will have experience creating and driving the analytic framework for planning, executing and managing organizational change in a highly entrepreneurial organization. Highly proficient technical skills are an essential attribute of a successful candidate.
The Director, Financial Services will have the following experience and attributes:
* Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA)
* Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
* Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the North American public company sector and involvement in creation of the financial statements.
