Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Confined spaces. Work setting: Installation. In shop. Service. Tasks: Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Welding techniques: Oxy-acetylene. Shielded metal ARC (SMAW). Specialization or experience: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots.
