*Nimble Science* is collaborating with partners worldwide to advance next-generation microbiome-based diagnostics and therapeutics. We achieve this by leveraging our cutting-edge capsule-based sampling technology, which allows us to perform liquid biopsies directly from the small intestine.
Do you enjoy pipetting? Are you looking to gain a lot of hands-on wet lab experience? Nimble Science is hiring a *full-time Medical Laboratory Technician *who will be performing and reporting on sample processing and testing in Nimble Science?s microbiology lab.
*Responsibility Snapshot:*
* Receiving, processing and analyzing of clinical samples following standardized operating procedures on a routine basis.
* Preparation of a variety of solutions, reagents, standards and controls.
* Documentation of test results, data entry and maintenance of lab inventory management system.
* Domestic and international shipping of biological samples.
* Operation, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
* Performing quality control by methods such as identifying instrument malfunction and/or out of control test results, taking and documenting all corrective action following established protocols.
* Maintaining a clean and safe work area according to established procedures and storing items in appropriate areas.

*What You Bring to the Team*
* You have experience in handling biological samples, performing nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, preparation of reagents and media, and bacterial culturing.
* You are expected to carry out all testing procedures independently and with minimal supervision.
* You are able to prepare reagents, standards, perform quality control and basic instrument troubleshooting.
* You are highly accurate and diligent.
* You have the ability to multi-task.
* You have strong analytical skills.
* You enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
* You enjoy and excel at hands-on wet lab work.
*Qualifications*
* Completion of a Bachelor?s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field in science.
* 1+ years of recent experience working in a laboratory within a microbiology or molecular diagnostics designation.
* Proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft 365 and MS Office (Excel, Word).
* You are process oriented and diligent in your work.
* Familiarity with lab and biosafety procedures and handling of hazardous materials.
* You are reliable and open to a flexible schedule.
*Position Details:*
* *Employee Class*: Regular, full-time
* *Primary location*: Life Sciences and Innovation Hub at Calgary, AB.
* *Starting date*: Immediate
* *Work Schedule*: Saturday, Sunday and 3 weekdays. Day shifts only.
* *Flexibility*: Candidates should be adaptable to schedule adjustments to meet operational needs.
* *Communication*: Clear communication skills are essential for coordinating shift schedules and ensuring workflow efficiency.
* *Eligibility*: This position restricts eligibility to only Canadian citizens, permanent residents, Open Work permit holders or persons to whom refugee protection have been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act at the time of hire.
