Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. At heights. Underground. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Install electrical distribution and transmission systems. Overhaul electrical distribution and transmission systems. Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires. Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks. Inspect overhead and underground power lines and cables and auxiliary equipment. Instruct apprentices. Install and maintain street lighting systems. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Climb ladders or operate hydraulic buckets when working aloft on poles and towers, or work in confined spaces such as trenches and tunnels to install power lines and cables and associated equipment. Communicate with other workers to co-ordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments. Work in confined spaces to install power lines and cables and associated equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Powerline Technician Trade Certification. Powerline Technician Red Seal Certificate. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
