*POSITION SUMMARY *
Margaret Bahen Hospice, part of the Better Living family of organizations, has an opening for the position of Art Therapist, who will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to Hospices? palliative clients, families, and caregivers who are seeking assistance in coping with anticipatory grief or grief associated with bereavement. As a member of the psychosocial team, the Art Therapist will ensure that clients are offered a comprehensive psychosocial program in both the community and residential hospice programs.
_This position reports to Vice President, Hospice Palliative Care._
*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
* Professional or Registered Art Therapist with a recognized Art Therapy Association or equivalent.
* Minimum of 2 years related work experience with individuals with knowledge of and/or experience in grief and bereavement, palliative care, community hospice, and residential hospice.
* Working knowledge of applicable legislation including but not limited to the Health Care Consent Act 1992, Substitute Decisions Act 1996, Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) 2010 and Home and Community Services Act 1994.
* Possess a valid Ontario Driver?s License and access to a vehicle for the purposes of business travel.
* Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment.
* Proficient in client information management systems and web-based systems.
*SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE*
* Maintain advanced knowledge of community resources and develop collaborative relationships with other community service providers to promote positive community relations and ensure hospice care is accessible to all individuals in the community.
* Provide advance professional knowledge on an ongoing basis through learning and development opportunities.
* Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and decision making skills.
* Demonstrate excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
* Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
* Ability to work flexible working hours.
*KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES*
* Advance office efficiencies by planning and implementing office and facility systems, layouts, and equipment to support optimal business operations and the health and safety of employees and residents.
* Plan and coordinate waste disposal, building security and grounds maintenance.
* Ensure security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.
* Train staff members on various systems and procedures.
* Work in a busy environment with high degree of professionalism and dedication to self, co-worker and Stakeholder.
* Manage and review service contracts.
* Conduct and document regular facilities inspections.
* Check completed work by vendors and contractors.
* Supervise office volunteers through coaching and counseling.
* Work with different Better Living office and facilities team to ensure alignment with organizational standards and practices.
*KEY ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES*
*Position Specific*
* Provide Art Therapy to clients 1:1 and in group formats (children, youths and adults).
* Provide grief and bereavement support.
* Actively participate and promote positive relationships with all stakeholders (e.g. Clients, Caregivers, Peers, Community Partners, and Volunteers).
* Ensure referrals are received and processed in a timely manner.
* Assess the needs of Clients and/or Caregivers in order to determine eligibility for service and develop Care Plans that reflect the needs and preferences of the individual; detail appropriate supports and interventions; and ensure a wellness approach to care.
* Align Clients and/or Caregivers to organization and program as applicable.
* Utilize the organizations? Case Management Model to monitor and respond to the ongoing needs of the Clients including, but not limited to, updated service planning, changes in status, and internal/external referrals.
