Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Automotive engineering technology/technician. or equivalent experience. Work setting: In shop. Mechanical and service company. Tasks: Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems. Diagnose faults and malfunctions. Repair or replace mechanical units or components. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Test and adjust units to specifications. Complete reports to record problems and work performed. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor. Apprenticeship training: Level two apprenticeship training. Level three apprenticeship training. Level four apprenticeship training. Equipment, eystems and controls experience: Automotive equipment and systems. Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment.
