Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Drive lighter, special purpose trucks. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Documentation knowledge: Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Dump truck. Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer). Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel for extended periods. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
