Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Work setting: On-site customer service. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Prepare flooring plans and scheduling. Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors. Prepare tenders and quotations. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Install carpeting on walls or other surfaces. Perform direct glue-down carpet installations. Perform double-bond carpet installations. Install outdoor carpets. Install materials on counter tops and raised platforms. Install vinyl decking materials. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Terrazzo tiles. Hardwood strip flooring. Parquet flooring. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Organized. Team player.
