Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Wet/damp. Odours. Cold/refrigerated. Dangerous. Hot. Noisy. At heights. Confined spaces. Work setting: Gas distribution company. Remote location. Construction site. Tasks: Keep record of work performed and location and condition of equipment. Read blueprint, schemas and drawings. Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment. Operate various vehicles and equipment. Check and lubricate gas pipeline valves. Conduct routine survey of gas mains and distribution lines. Investigate reports of gas leaks. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles). Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Gas detecting devices. Gas lines. Gas pipeline valves. Valves. Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Security and safety: Enhanced reliability security clearance. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Walking. Work under pressure. Ability to distinguish between colours. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat.
