Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Installation. Tasks: Determine type of glass, frames and material required. Measure, mark and cut glass. Position and secure panes in frame. Prepare tenders and quotations. Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products. Install door, window and other hardware. Instruct apprentices. Prepare shop drawings. Repair glass doors and other glass structures. Supervise other workers. Transport cases of glass. Estimate costs and materials. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Type of glass/materials: Float glass. Mirrors. Sealed units. Installation specialization: Skylights and slope glazed installations. Aluminum storefronts, barrel vaults, solariums, commercial window systems. Shower doors and tub enclosures. Walls and other interior areas (i.e. partitions). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?. Do you have previous experience in this field of employment?.
