Job details

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Additional Skills: Write maintenance reports. Read and interpret blueprints. Specific Skills: Install and maintain street lighting systems. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems. Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers and guy wires. Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks. Inspect and test overhead and underground power lines and cables and auxiliary equipment. Climb ladders or operate hydraulic buckets. Communicate with other workers to co-ordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments. Own Tools/Equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish between colours.
