Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: At heights. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Work setting: Commercial. Industrial. Residential. Various locations. Tasks: Instruct apprentices. Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster. Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists. Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry. Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound. Estimate costs and materials. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Standing for extended periods. Walking. Work under pressure. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Mask. Safety glasses/goggles. Steel-toed safety boots.
